The only reason Santana was a bitch in Mash-Off as bad as she was is because she was written that way. She’s never been that egotistical, bitchy, or just flat-out mean. So, no, Santana didn’t have it “coming”, didn’t “deserve” it, and Finn wasn’t “right”.
It is simply the writers fault for not understanding how to write a character.
